A Brighter Day at Day Club with Technology
Since the beginning of May 2011, we have been experimenting with using the Internet and a LCD projector at Day Club to enhance our daily news discussion and entertainment activities.
The LCD projector allowed the participants to view images on a large screen (ok, a large wall) which is much clearer than the images on our television.
The Internet access expands content and activity options, enabling us to:
- play interactive crossword puzzles as a group
- watch and discuss the news with live content, images and videos
- follow along senior-friendly online exercise videos
- watch funny movies on YouTube
- watch DVD movies
We have only scratched the surface as to what we can do with the Internet. An added benefit of using a bright LCD projector is that we can keep the lights on; this means, literally, having a brighter day at the Day Club.
This effort has been possible through the work of Saun Shewanown, Ph.D. from Adaptive Research.
Adaptive R&D is loaning us the LCD projector on Tuesdays?Thank-you Adaptive Research!!
In order for Day Club participants to enjoy the enhanced experience permanently, we need your donation for our own bright LCD projector at a cost of $700. We also hope to have our own touch screen monitor to create a special interest program for each Day Club participant.
