About Lifespan Resources
Mission Statement
Lifespan Resources, Inc. is a nonprofit 501(C)(3) organization whose mission is to enrich the quality of life of older adults by enabling each individual to live a life that matters.
PURPOSE
The purpose of this organization shall be to enrich the lives of older people by providing a multi-purpose, interfaith ministry to and with older persons through churches, synagogues and other organizations and agencies in Atlanta. Our goals are:
a. To assist older persons to have a more meaningful and fulfilling life by using their skills and knowledge to benefit others in the community through volunteer services and continued personal growth;
b. To develop programs specially suited to feed the mind and spirit of older persons, helping them to maintain their dignity and independence, as well as their usefulness;
c. To help older persons remain in their own homes under satisfactory conditions of health and happiness as a viable alternative to institutional care;
d. To serve as a conduit for referral of information and services available to older persons through private and governmental agencies;
e. To cooperate closely with existing agencies, both governmental and private, to avoid duplication and to assist older persons to use these services.
History
In 1981, members of five local congregations initiated the program North Atlanta Senior Services (NASS). A consortium of north side churches, area synagogues, and various community service organizations and businesses support our services through four major programs; Lunch-n-Learn, Day Club, Medical Escort Transportation, and Faith and Action Friends and Neighbors. LIFESPAN volunteers give over 10,000 hours of service each year to meet the needs of the growing population of elderly in the Northwest Atlanta area.
